3rd Edition Canada China International Film Festival (September 21-27, 2018)
CCIFF is hosted by Canada China Art-Tech (CCAT), a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering relations and understandings between China and Canada, by connecting stakeholders in art and technology and digital interactive media, pro moting Canadian and Chinese culture, artists to collaborate internationally.
This year is the Canada-China Year of Tourism, the 3rd Edition Canada China International Film Festival is in celebration of this great event.
With 20% of the global market, China has the fastest growing film and television industry in the world. It is about to surpass the United States, traditionally leaders in this sector. The Canada China International Film Festival offers a unique opportunity to explore the potential of this market and develop Sino-Canada business relations. Companies such as China Film Producers¡¯ Association, World Film Report from CCTV-6, and more well-known filmmakers and producers will be present during the event.

Special Film Screening of Zhang Yimou

Bridging the divide between prestigious art film and rousing popular cinema, the filmography of director Zhang Yimou includes many of the most widely recognized Chinese releases of recent decades, including Red Sorghum, Hero
and The Road Home. The first film of this special event that CCIFF will be presenting is Zhang¡¯s Red Sorghum on 16 mm film.
Following the screening of Red Sorghum, CCIFF presents the documentary Zhanng Yimou¡¯s ¡°Shadow¡±

Winds of Spring by Keyu Chen (2017, 6min 7s)
Keyu Chen examines this emotionally charged question in her first professional animated film, Winds of Spring, a delicately crafted work that unfolds with the rhythm of the seasons. Based on the filmmaker¡¯s own personal experiences, this tenderly told story opens a window onto something universal.

Équit¨¦ program as part of the production team for Marie-Jos¨¦e Saint-Pierre¡¯s animated

aller), directed by Nicola Lemay and Janice Nadeau; Mamie, directed by Janice
Nadeau; and Bus Story (Histoires de bus), directed by Tali. Keyu won the 21st
edition of the NFB¡¯s Cin¨¦aste recherch¨¦(e) competition, allowing her to direct
her first professional animated film,
Winds of Spring (Un printemps).

For a period of three days and as part of the CCIFF, the QFTC will organise two Fam tours with Chinese producers.
The first Fam tour will focus on film and TV production. Participants will visit filming locations, studios, infrastructures, VFX & post-production houses. They will also learn about the province of Quebec's tax incentives and our qualified labor.
The second Fam tour will focus on VR and AR. Participants will meet with Quebec companies which are developing content and technology dedicated to this innovative market.
All of the Chinese Fam Tour participants will be able to meet with QFTC partners and members.
